As by usual, Tom Ford forbid the air of journalists and critics at his Spring 2012 grant and did not permit any photographs of the accumulation to be made public. One puissance wonder: Is this the fashion equal of a producer not allowing critics to preview a movie judgment release for fear of scathing reviews?
Under the radar, notwithstanding, a fortuitous few critics landed tickets to the uber-privy presentation. We presume their reports back were exactly which Tom Ford was hoping to escape. Jess Cartner-Morley of the Guardian wrote:
I'm going to tend hitherward straight out with it. Deep perfume: I didn't think Tom Ford's elucidate was all that. Not that it was fearful, by any means, but despite the elegant tailoring and the immaculate execution it cruel a little flat. It felt over self-referential. Turns out, though, that was the kinder of Ford's feedback. Virginie Mouzat, a French style critic for Le Figaro, didn't tug any punches as she described what she deemed to be a "incubus" of a show. Translated from French:
As before long as the first outfits came not at home, we were stunned by the dated character of a collection that resembled his Gucci shows of greater degree of than ten years ago. The pass in ~ worsened as Mouzat described the outdated degree B imitations of designers like Celine and YSL. Most unnatural-hitting, however, was the critics explanation of the designer's finishing buckle as he awaited a standing triumph that never came:
After what looked like a shopping register for Kim Kardashian, Tom Ford came away...Everybody just looks at their feet. The symphony does not stop. Ford tries to talk with articulate sounds above the noise, louder. We can't hear a thing...So Tom Ford retreats advancing Anna Wintour and now it's she whom he decides to embrace. Troubling. This Texan playboy, lauded ~ means of journalists in the nineties, is at once the designer people don't stand up notwithstanding—when they are not fleeing him.Alas, it's unpalatable for us to give up chance of a favorable result that the legendary designer's accumulation will, in fact, astound us—in a excellence way.
